Illinois: Educated & Empowered is a statewide initiative to spread awareness and education about Substance Use and Co-Occurring Disorders. Explore our resources, engage with your community, and learn how to break the stigma surrounding SUD and COD.
Our mission is to empower individuals and communities across Illinois by delivering targeted, culturally responsive public awareness campaigns that break the stigma surrounding Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and Co-Occurring Disorders (COD). Through education, collaboration, and the sharing of personal stories, we aim to promote compassionate understanding, harm reduction strategies, and access to critical recovery resources. We strive to create a healthier, more empathetic society where every person affected by substance use is supported on their journey to recovery.
We envision an Illinois where stigma no longer stands in the way of recovery, and every individual affected by Substance Use Disorders and Co-Occurring Disorders is empowered through education, understanding, and access to life-saving resources. Our goal is to create a future where communities are united in fostering empathy, supporting harm reduction, and advocating for compassionate, inclusive recovery services statewide.

Our Purpose & Impact

We believe every voice matters. Our purpose is to lift the voices of those impacted by Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and Co-Occurring Disorders (COD), empowering individuals to share their stories and foster real connections.

This is more than a campaign—it’s a movement. We are bringing communities together to challenge the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health. Through interactive posters, peer-led Q&A sessions, and personal storytelling, we intend to create spaces where empathy, understanding, and recovery can thrive.

We’re not just changing minds—we’re changing lives. Our goal is to reach 500,000 individuals and their families, spreading awareness, offering resources, and challenging outdated attitudes about substance use.
At the heart of every recovery journey is the power of community. Our commitment is to foster a supportive network where individuals and families facing substance challenges can find understanding, hope, and strength. Through shared experiences, compassionate support, and accessible resources, we remind everyone that recovery is not a solo journey—we’re all in this together.
